Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] June 2: Ahead of the highly anticipated final match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar shared his thoughts on his inaugural season in a leadership role.


Describing the current IPL season as a dream come true, Patidar expressed, “This season feels like a dream for me, especially since I’m captaining for the first time. It’s also quite thrilling,” during a pre-match press briefing.


He emphasized the importance of learning from seasoned players and leaders, appreciating their varied insights as crucial to his development as a captain.


“So far, I’ve genuinely enjoyed this experience. It’s a fantastic chance to learn from some of the game’s great leaders and talented international players. Their diverse ideas are significantly aiding me in my new role,” he noted.


Patidar remained optimistic, stating, “I don’t find it frustrating at all. We’re not fixated on the finals; instead, we aim to play our best cricket. I prefer to keep things straightforward. Tomorrow’s game will be exciting for us,” he added.


RCB is set to clash with Punjab Kings in the historic IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams are yet to secure an IPL trophy, making this match particularly significant.


Historically, Bengaluru and Punjab have faced each other 36 times in the IPL, with both teams evenly matched at 18 wins each.


In their last meeting, RCB triumphed over Punjab Kings by eight wickets in Qualifier 1, with Philip Salt contributing a strong 56 runs. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings advanced to the final by defeating Mumbai Indians by five wickets, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s pivotal 87-run performance.
